As i mentioned before,i prefer the 4 post.
14k is double what the average user needs,9-10,000 lbs is more than enough for home use.
Balance is never an issue on a 4 post.what i like is the fact you can place tools on the deck, wheels also. Beats finding a place to pile tools.
Two post hoists need more concrete to mount it and for stability.
For front end work the 2 post makes work a little easier,but 4 post allows for jack placement virtually anywhere and i have used the deck as tie down points for pulling a part into place.
My hoist is the 9k Backyard Buddy,free standing. It has a wheel kit so it can be moved if necessary. I have pretty much used it daily for 4 years.
