A 70 model year duster has always been a special car to me.
I should have had one as a first car.
My adoptive grandma had one. Original yellow car that had been painted red. The red wasn't shiny but had more of a matte cherry dip cone look about it.
It was a slant six/ three by the knee. Bench seat car and it was going to be my first set of wheels because my grandma liked me because I made good grades and always helped in the kitchen and did what I am supposed to. I was so happy the day she told the whole family I was going to get her car for a first car since she didn't want to drive anymore.
So the next week a cousin wrecked her car, hit a parked car at 3 a.m. this cousin then asked grandma for the duster. At first they told her it was already taken. This cousin insisted that she get it not me because she made the case that I am not genetic family anyways. So a few family members got involved on her side so she ended up with the duster.
So a week after that, she let her boyfriend use the car to get cigarettes. He runs a red light and my poor duster got broad sided and destroyed. Broke my heart. Then the cousin asks me if I still wanted the duster she would sell it to me...... wrecked.
I have been looking for a 70 since then only to have them elude me because something always happened that prevented me from getting a 70. I have a 71 and a 72 that I thought of building as a 70 but i could never get ahold of a 70.
