My neighbour just got back from Alberta on Wednesday and was talking to him and he said the visibility was about 200 yards and the smell was heavy from smoke and would sting your eyes first thing in the morning. He's here for 4 weeks then back out there again.
Not to many people can work as hard as they do on a forest fire, my hat is off to your neighbor. Give him an atta boy for me.
I worked in forest fires in Washington State for a year and that was all I could handle. The smoke and heat was bad enough but cutting down trees and clearing brush in front of the fire to try to stop it was even harder.
Never went through a fire storm thank God I had guys tell me that you would climb in your shelter for protection from the heat and the wind was so strong it would lift you off the ground.
All the people fighting forest fires are a strong bunch and should be proud of what they do.
