Yes, and truthfully, think about it for a second. Most street races back in the day were red light to red light. 1/8 mile is a much closer representation of that distance.
Plus, I am going to guess that the average guy can build a good 1/8 mile car for a lot less. Wouldn't a hard 1/8 mile race be a lot less wear and tear on the engine and tranny?
