Turbo vs supercharger?

Superchargers are big hot air pumps originally designed to pump air into mine shafts. They wear out, use crank power to turn, are loud and usually require a large hole in the hood.

After all that if I had the cash I would put one on in a hot second! I love the vintage look, the sound and instant boost.
