Gotto wonder if they had called the ammeter an ammeter instead of an 'alternator' gage, would a lot of us been less confused? I think so.
Also interesting that voltmeters have been around since the discovery of electricity and are as simple to manufacture as ammeters. For some reason the manufacturers chose to run current through the meter in the dash. It really doesn't matter what part of the electricity we monitor. How about the Millions of cars that just had a red light. Heck, the charge meter in my 66 hasn't been hooked up for years. If the turn signals get slow I'll know I have a problem! :lol:
