I recently purchased a 66 Dart S6. I'm planning to upgrade the suspension and drivetrain. Yesterday I ran across a wrecked 2012 Charger R/T with the 5.7 Hemi.

Has anyone swapped the front and rear suspension and drivetrain from a later model charger into an early a-body?

Haven't had the chance to do any measuring and comparing yet.

Definitely wider. I know there have been a couple that have done it with later a’s. One dart and one Barracuda. I think they widened the body a hair to make it look right. There is one swap going on right now with a later a but it slips my mind what the members name is

Getting ready to do this myself.. 67 notch..09 Charger Hemi swap.

Are you planning to swap suspension as well? The fuel injected Hemi is a big draw for me, but the handling and ride quality are the things that I want the most out of the swap.

How do the widths of the frame rails and the attachment point locations compare between the two?

If it’s not painfully obvious, I’m new to modifying and re-engineering! Haha

From all the research Ive done the Charger is 8" wider. Ive just started this build so ill be creating a thread. Check this build out..Dodge Mirada Wrapped Around a Charger SRT-8 – Engine Swap Depot. He has narrowed an IRS and used the front suspension from a Charger SRT.
My plan is to narrow the IRS and use a tubular complete front end from RMS AlterKtion Coil-Over System, Street/Handling, 67-76 A-body, 5.7/6.1/6.4 Hemi Mounts

There is a lot of debate about the torsion system being just as good as anything out there aftermarket, and that's fine, just not the direction I want to go. Ive had this car for 23 years and I want to bring it up to date.

The alterkation is a nice setup I have one. If I had to do it again I would have stayed with the torsion bar setup and used my money elsewhere. I have seen torsion bar and leaf spring a bodies perform just as well as newer cars On autocross tracks. The IRS shortening will be cool to see. I have looked into this too to build a mid engine Fastback. Keep us updated.
