Im going to swap my 383 into my scamp this week. Who has a B-deck motor with an RPM air-gap intake? does it clear a flat steel hood? Drop base for sure in my future, just seeing what you guys have and what works. THANKS!!

I do, and it does (with Moroso drop-base and 3" element, and a NOS Powershot plate too). Not by much but it clears :)

A whole works for me!

I suppose what you could do is get everything set up on the engine. The carb and the air cleaner your going to use in your Scamp. I have done this before, especially if I was unsure of air cleaner to hood clearance. I take a ball of tin foil place it on top of the air cleaner and slowly close the hood down to find out how much of a crush zone I have, and how much space is needed between the air cleaner and hood. Thanks, Al

Leave your radiator out and slowly close the hood. You can see right thru with a flashlight if it clears or not.
Just my 2 cents.

Making stuff fit is hot rodding!
Good luck and pics please- keep us updated.

My 69 fish has a Tarantula TM-6 with Eddy 800AVS and stock filter top and base as seen in my avatar. It is tight but does not touch the insulation pad.

Street Dominator, 3" drop based 14" air cleaner and an 800 DP. The SD is pretty flat.

Moroso drop base really helps. Had run that previously with 2 nitrous plates and Holley 750DP. Just had to round the kick down linkage a little to clear the drop base.
