Relocating of the Neutral Safety Switch

Halifaxhops got the nail on the head, they made 3 or 4 different nss in different lengths, Pawned if i were you check the number on your transmission, i had a 74 duster with a 71 challenger transmission, had a problem that it leaked and car nss by passed by previous owner, got the right nss switch at advanced auto, took care of leak ,and also starting in drive or any gear except park and neutral. I have a kwik lift in my garage, and forgot it would start when nss was bypassed, had my son start the car and with luck i was in front of car and back of lift was lowered with garage door open,it was in reverse and started, he went out garage and 50 ft thru the yard before taking foot off gas and hitting brake. So yes by passing nss is dangerous, but it will cost you less to try to find the right switch than to fabricate one, saying that, if you happen to identify that you have the wrong nss for the transmission. If you go on line and look you will see the difference in the nss made for mopars in late 60s and early 70s. Only question i have, i see that it won't start in gear, but what did you put in place of the nss to stop the leak?
