I learned about seat belts running big tractors. They had ROPS (Rollover Protective Structure) canopies in my early days, but full cabs were a rarity. Running into a pile of rock to load the bucket on the loader in 2nd gear your legs get tired of holding your butt in the seat. Put on the seat belt and tighten that sucker up I figure. Legs not tired after that. After that it just became habit and long before alarms and laws to make us do so. A fellow operator thanked me for sharing that with him said "It's nice to get on your feet at quitting time and your legs aren't aching." A lot of operators thought your best chance of survival in a rollover was to be thrown clear. NOT. Cat loaders are fun in a four wheel drift .
