And do I really need to have the crossover if the galley to mains are opened up on all journals and full flow is capable to entire block?
How do I mod the pickup/plate from bottom of pump cover to suck properly?

Are you going with a solid or a hydraulic cam?
Are you going with a rear sump pan?
If so you know you cannot run a pickup off the bottom of the pump. You need a rear sump pan to do that.
