Even he must be confused. Because I don't see any blue or turquoise for a '69 340 listed.

Ive lost all the pictures I saved over the years unfortunately but from what I had found for 340s
68 Red
69 Mostly Turquoise
70 Orange
71 Orange before April, Blue after
72-73 Blue.

Sounds like every one else lost all their pictures too? I don't remember ever taking pictures of the engines I worked on over the years. **** nobody carried a camera with them back then. No one cared back in the day. We just ran the **** out of them. I may be old but I still know what I've seen and worked on. AdmaR is the closest call I've see in this post... unless someone has a time machine. Paint it what ever YOU think the judge would like to see. I'm driving my stuff and having fun with it. Carry on...

My list is what a judge will want to see if you care about those things.

And your list sounds correct. On that unless it is a unrestored car no one would know. That is and will always be my point. Ma Mopar was making cars to sell. There was no set color by a set date to build the car. If a different color engine wound up in an odd year car, who cared? Maybe it would make it worth more money if you could prove it? Ha Ha I don't think so. There would always be someone that said it was not possible.

My 69 340 4 speed swinger with original drive train that I bought back in 1986 was turquoise. My 68 340 GTS has a 68 340 in it, but not original, when I went through the motor it was definitely painted red originally.

The engine in my Dart Sport came out of a '72 Duster. Has a late '71 date code. Original owner decided to replace it with a crate stroker motor, instead of rebuilding it. When I bought it, it was turquoise. ????

Actually there is set dates for the color change. They are called bulletins. My list is what is used to judge cars at the Nats. The judges know there are always exception but if you dont have documentations to back it up you lose points. Does it affect the value ? That's up to the buyer. But I would assume a car that judges high at the Nats would bring more money than a car that didnt.

That is my point. So In your words... "There are always exceptions"

I agree they are different shades. I just thought it was funny.
 On thing bad about the internet, I can't see you laughing behind your screen. I thought you might be colorblind.:poke:

Too late. When I had it rebuilt, the shop that rebuilt it asked what color to paint it. I told him the correct color was blue. He questioned it being turquoise too.
