Well, that guy's DD214 (Active duty military record for those that don't know), yeah, he didn't join the Marines until after vietnam and was never deployed, discharged with less than honorable for 2 AWOL periods. Got out as a E1, the lowest possible enlisted rank. Which says a lot because since 1960s, E1-E3 are automatic promotions with just time in service...
