Front Wing A pillar Help

Im trying to install the rubber that goes down the wing a pillar and I know I have to glue it on using weatherstrip adhesive, however I was wondering if I glue it on over the screws or if the screws are to help hold it down. I dont remember taking screws out to remove the old seal but I thought i would check. Also how far from the top does the seal start?
