Shifters? Educate me!

I have used a B&M Star Shifter in my Dart for decades. I picked it because it uses regular detant shifting like a factory shifter most of the time, but put it in first, pick up the t-handle and it drops into rachet shift mode. no missed gears! They have been around for a long time and parts are easy to come by. I have found them to be extremely dependable and worry free.
