The vanilla comes from the oak. One of the first non smoke flavor to pick up. There are a couple at out spirit tasting group that can pick out the fruit and floral notes. It takes acute taste buds for sure and the barrel the reviewer sampled could be a bit different. The same batch in a different location in the warehouse can be a huge difference.
