.........and LUCK is the only reason not

Doesn't look like much, does it, the little annoying irritating scab above my ankle?

I have about an 8' piece of REAL heavy wall 2x2" square tubing. This is heavy enough I have to use both hands and really hang on when moving it. I use it across the two carriages, under the vehicle, when on the 2 post to stabilize the posts, as they tend to "lean in" a small amount as the thing is mounted to a pair of 2x6 rectangular steel tubes across the center. "It bends" just a little

I also can attach it to the front loader on the little Farmall to extend the reach when lifting things.......engines, transmissions, rear axles, etc.

Anyway, I had it leaning up against the shed, and wasn't paying attention, an extension cord got a bit caught and I jerked the cord a little bit to free it. NEXT THING I KNEW the damn thing fell down right past my back, and clipped my leg just above the ankle........just enough to scrap and abrade the skin. If the dam thing would have hit me in the head or arm or whatever else, that would have been SERIOUS

You can see the tubing here on the hoist.........behind the yellow hoist arm

Darned gravity. I'll be glad when we all move to Mars LOL

Glad to hear you just got a scrape, although that's a tender area and I'm sure it you'll feel it in the morning. Makes us appreciate the wake up call when we do have those "close calls" ! As my wife says to me in those instances..."slow down".

Those are the kind of injuries that a diabetic has to really keep an eye on. They can go south in a hurry.

LOL this IS the morning. I mistitled it happened yesterday. Yep. It's "tender." Wearing a slipper / no sock around today

Dammit geezer, you gotta be more careful.

I am really surprised you don't have a gf there to help you with these things. As full of energy and awesome as you are. ..... yea it's kinda shocking

Those sort of things wait in the shadows to attack. Very much like the air ratchet that waits til you arent paying attention to give you the black fingernail.
It will always be something...

Rainey , really !!?--------LOL
the older I get , the more I think about getting hurt. Even put on gloves once in a while, after working w/o them most all my life.
yeah, my hands look like it too-

I never would'ha seen this coming. I'm going to have to devise a "safer" way to get it out of the way. Wearin' a slipper on one foot is a genuine PITA. Makes me look like "Chester" "Mr Dillon, Mr Dillon!!"

Heck I am thinking of getting one of those hard hats, and maybe an orange vest, so when I tip over my old geezer self, I won't knock my brains out and anyone close will see me falling and get outta the way!!!!????

Or non-diabetics. Four years ago, I had a similar scrape. It got worse daily. It turns out there was a hematoma, which got infected. Two weeks later, I went to the hospital, which tried to discharge me after two days of IV antibiotics. I insisted it wasn't better, prompting an ultrasound which revealed the hematoma. After a surgery, the doctor said two more days would have determined if the amputation would have been above or below the knee.
If it gets any worse, don't delay. See a doc.

LMAO. There's are some on here who actually won't "get that".

Glad you are ok Del.
When I worked in the oil fields one guy sat down leaning against the wheels on our drill rig to eat lunch.
One of the drill pipes slipped off the yoke that they lift pipe with just as they were lowering it to the hole.
It fell from standing straight up right across the guy's out stretched legs instantly crushing them just below the knee.
They started to lift the pipe and I yelled at them to leave it until the paramedics got there.
I felt really bad about leaving the guy sitting there screaming to get it off, but,,,

Chester had a bum leg and always yelling for Marshel Dillion on Gunsmoke.
Even though that is wayyyyyyyyyyy before my time, I like old shows but oddly enough, i never heard of that one till now.

I just googled it and I see mr. Dennis weaver, the man from the movie duel

If you have a "ME TV" channel in your area they play Gunsmoke every day (here) at noon. The old BW series was Chester as the sometime deputy. By the way, Burt Reynolds is in many of those, and plays a "half breed" Indian who is the town's blacksmith. Great stuff that old series

I forget the old movie we saw other day but "Chester" was on it even before the Gunsmoke deal. We like to watch old movie's that were made before certain "stars" became stars!

I think every new generation should be able to live a day or a week or a month during the preceding generation's. I bet we all would appreciate our world a little better!?

I'm 70 and grew up here in the N end of Idaho. My Mom's folks were not rich. They had power, but no running water or bathroom until I was in Jr. High School. The events that led to that is one of my Gramps brothers died, and the remaining one sold the farm they had down in Oregon, moved up here to live with them, as he was in declining health. He had a fair amount of money, and they used some of that to drill a well, remodel the house, and add a bathroom.

They ALSO did not have a fridge until then........a real live icebox. Grampa used to keep a big tub and ice tongs in the trunk of the car to haul ice home.

The house I grew up in, about 2 miles "down the hill" had belonged to my Father's father. (That is the estate that just sold). When we moved in there, we had a wall hung "hand crank" phone with 20 some odd people on the party line. Our number was "19-F4" which meant that we were the 19th party on the line and our ring was "Fast 4" Even after getting a "modern" dial phone, we had a party line for years after. At some point after I joined the Navy in 68, the phone co (General Telephone) upgraded the lines and they were down to only 2 people per line

Even at the point Mom was moved out to a care place, you had to be "careful" not to run the well pump out of water

Eh, I've done dumber. Was using a tanker bar to release the chain binders on a truck load my chief and I were delivering. Those things tighten down with a tremendous amount of force, because when it released it ripped that bar out of my hands barely missing my face and threw that bar about 40' in the air. Chief and the MSG just stared at me as this steel bar comes crashing down between us. I thought for sure I was going to get my *** chewed out for that one.
