$1,000.00 to put P.S. in my 67 Barracuda?
With the Mopar Ps box, you can swap in reaction springs to dial in as much or as little, assist, as you like. You don't have to live with super boost. And you can turn the pump down, too.
Going from a manual box to a ps box, the double D shaft can be collapsed into the existing column with no adverse effects that I can see; except that the stump is now 2 inches closer to your chest. But that too can be changed.
The biggest penalty is the extra weight directly over the front wheels. Which I solved with 1.03 bars and a big swaybar.
Is PS worth it? Well just try doing parking lot tricks without it. I couldn't/wouldn't be without it; but I also couldn't/wouldn't put up with the over-assisted stock system. The spring kit IIRC was less than $20C in 1999 when I played with it. I don't get guys who can modify their engines, but are scared to take a PS box apart; it ain't rocket-science. Just do it!
Crap; if you lived next door, you could come over and fill your trunk with what you need for cheap. 'Course if you need it to work like mine, lol, it's gonna cost a lil more.
