The oil pump driven direct from the cam is the issue with going outside of the norm with a slant 6. Ported head, sure, long rods and short pistons, sure, 1 carb 2 carb 3 carb..., sure, cross drilled crank 24-7 oiling, sure...roller cam...screeching halt.

External driven would be easier, belt?
Too bad crane doesn't have the coated steel tech incorporated into the slant drive gear.
Roller would be sweet, the extra 20 hp or so would be wonderful.
