got to watch the wife take control today
so we were on out date night, against her will i had swong by a furniture store and so we got to the restaurant a little later then i hoped
i got a great parking spot and as i pulled up, i happened to see a gentleman in a wheel chair move down the side walk (just situational awareness, i didnt think nothing off it)
so i got out, and walked around the car to open her door when i heard a noise like something falling
i immediately ran over to find the gentleman in the wheelchair had missed the ramp on the sidewalk and simply fallen of
when i got there he was on the ground, on his face and there where 5 people around him (his wife, the couple who had been out to dinner with them, and a couple just walking by who had witnessed him falling)
i tried to assess the situation but was pretty much out of my depth, and quite frankly, so was everyone else and we were pretty much lost
then my wife showed up, she had seen me run off and figured i might need some help
she took one look at the situation and owned it
she quickly introduced herself and took control
got the gentleman rolled over on his back, and elevated his legs (i guess that helps stabilize his blood pressure)
then she dressed his wounds, he had severe rips on his hand and pretty much scalped himself
i got volunteered to find something that would work as bandages, so i run into the pizzashop and got some heavy duty shop rags
then (sorry, this is kinda gruesome) she told me to make sure i properly align the skin before applying bandages and pressure
while i held his right arm, she told me to help her keep pressure on the headwound (where she had aligned the skin flaps as much as possible
almost forgot, in the meantime she had given the wife the third degree on the medications this gentleman was on (by the way, he was 78 years old)
the entire time she was also keeping him informed on what we were doing, what was going on, and how the situation was progressing
then, what was perhaps the most impressive, is when the first responders arrived (two fireman) she basically briefed them, and got out of their way
