To answer your question, no it does not. The plate blocks everything but the passages which flows directly onto the impeller of the electric pump. I haven’t ever had a cavitation problem with my CSR pump. Other than when you first fill the radiator, my CSR takes a bit of priming. But once it starts going, it never stops or cavitates.
