California DMV ripped me out of my parts.

Out here in western Riverside County, code enforcement has been on a terror. I have buddies who are being written up for disabled vehicles on their properties, several of my neighbors and I were written up for motorhome storage and covers (we formed a group, fought, and won, sort of), the state is killing back yard chickens due to Newcastle Disease, our annual picnic was canceled because the city and parks departments now want fees (Steelers themed picnic which got so popular that we now must pay a $1500 fee to continue it...$0 to $1500 with no explanation), and plenty other stories.
in Washington, we have flim-flam initiative scoflaw who makes his living off of taking donations to promote tax initiatives. 20years ago, he got people all riled up about value-based license tab renewals. He convinced the voters to vote for I-695, which flat-rated renewals to like $50/yr. That meant that the new Mercedes drivers tabs cost about $1000 less, and the average older car driver(like me) might save $50. I'll be damned if it didn't get voted in. That had been a huge source of revenue for the State's general fund. As a result, people had to start paying cost-based fees for everything. At that time, I was going thru a well permitting process and my well fee went from $150 to over $1500!
