Help me sort my combo

-
I don't know why they asked me to bring in the manifolds. They are running it with headers, said their dyno wasn't set up for manifolds. Anyhow first pull 425 449.

A few adjustments got it to 434 458. They are going to try some jetting changes. I'll post the sheet when I get it. They shot video of the break in and are doing the pulls too but its really low quality stuff. I'll see if I can post when I get it.

Long tube, 3" collectors, 1 5/8 primary. My manifolds are the original big block to A body into 2 1/2" with H out flowmasters. Don't remember if 2 chamber or 3.

The best pull was 438.6 459@5750. The tech didn't run the rpms up any higher, but he felt there was more. I don't know what a stock bottom end will handle for rpms.

I guess that sheet isn’t for the best pull.

Numbers look pretty good though.

Probably lose 25-30hp with the manifolds.

Thank you for looking it over. Been running mopars for 40 years but my first official dyno.

I don't know why they didn't send over the best pull but its like pulling teeth.

I don’t know why this is the case, but I’ve heard countless dyno stories where the experience wasn’t great.
And I’d say most of the time, those tales of woe have little or nothing to do with any problems associated with the motor.
It’s usually some sort of equipment problem, communication issue, didn’t have the right something-or-other on hand, ran out of time, etc....... that took away from the overall dyno experience.

And then there’s the stuff that makes you scratch your head...... like street motors being tuned with the water temps at like 120-130, or no part throttle testing to see what the carb is doing at normal cruise.

I guess in anything there's all levels of professionalism. For me the test will be when the motors installed. Last guy I had tune my ride was called Dyno Dave. When I got to his garage he had sold his dyno but still wanted to tune my car. Ran great till I ran out the tank of turbo blue. Hence trust but verify.

One step closer.

Talked to Lenny, he just sent my custom converter. 34-3600 stall. I've never had a quality converter like this before, looking forward to what it will do.

Finally got the parts I need for the install. Grandson helped and took the pic.

1 step at a time. Got the engine to trans done, custom motor mounts were a byach but thats done, torq converter needed a different flex plate and bolts but thats done, to day installed the small starter. Discovered the hard way there was a stripped bolt holding on the starter and the solenoid stud was stripped from the factory but thats the joy of hotrodding, right?

So time to install the manifolds. I removed them with the engine in but do you think they would go back on? Unbolted the byach motor mounts and raised the engine, still hit the starter, thats when the bottle jack holding up the motor failed. Replaced it and got the manifolds hung, starter reinstalled and the mounts snug. 6 hours, enough for today. BTW removed a few spark plugs for clearance and boy do they look great!

Git R done! We want runnin video! Chop chop Hop Sing! lol

You and me both. Wanna fry them goodyears and start lookin for some nittos!

Spark plug problems! Before I was running Champions and 1 matched Autolite for space considerations on the steering box. Shop tuned it with NGKs, which are too long for the space. I called NGK today and they said they don't have a shorter plug with the same rating so I'm hoping somebody can recommend a shorter plug to fit thats the same range. Any help is appreciated. R5671a-7 is whats in there now.

Lotsa room between the valve cover and brake booster, not!

Double stacked the remflex gaskets to give a little more room between the exhaust and the valve cover.
