So I have my 8.8 rear end i was looking around under the car the perches seem straight foward in how to cut and weld new ones in place I'll get the angle with the car level 1 to 3 degrees yes i think ive got it this far.. looking foward to get this done this weekend however my question is about the rear shock absorbers? from the picture it looks like you picked up a Mustang rear axle -- i see the 5 bolt axles with factory disc brakes and the quad shock brackets and upper control arm brackets -- if it is out of a 1994-98 Mustang it will be 60-1/2 inches wide ----if out of a 1999-04 Mustang will be 62 inches wide. --- housing tubes will be 2-3/4 inches and axle will have 28 spline axles ( unless rebuilt with 31 spline axles )
-explorer disc brakes will not bolt to a Ranger rear axle as they use mustang style housing ends with the small O.D. axle bearings --- explorers use the large O.D. truck style bearing with the 31 spline axles.and the tubes are larger with leaf spring mounts.
