from the picture it looks like you picked up a Mustang rear axle -- i see the 5 bolt axles with factory disc brakes and the quad shock brackets and upper control arm brackets -- if it is out of a 1994-98 Mustang it will be 60-1/2 inches wide ----if out of a 1999-04 Mustang will be 62 inches wide. --- housing tubes will be 2-3/4 inches and axle will have 28 spline axles ( unless rebuilt with 31 spline axles )
-explorer disc brakes will not bolt to a Ranger rear axle as they use mustang style housing ends with the small O.D. axle bearings --- explorers use the large O.D. truck style bearing with the 31 spline axles.and the tubes are larger with leaf spring mounts.
