Oil bypass filter adapter
Barbed hose ends with external clamps does seem like a problem waiting to happen for the long term. It looks like this kit has the parts to eliminate the filter plate on the block.
True push-on type fittings and the proper hose for that is a much better solution. You can buy the adapters separately and then get good fittings at most local NAPA stores, or get the hoses made. If you do push-ons or fixed pre-made ends, then you ought to get one end for the hose as a regular wrench tightened, AN-type fitting, that go onto matching AN-to pipe adapter into the filter adapter; that is for ease of connection. Just keep an eye on restrictions in any fitting adapter.
Put some sort of aluminum tape/shield on the hose to prevent picking up heat raidating from the headers.
