I know asking which Cam to go with is a lot like asking which girl is prettiest.. But..

I am rebuilding a 440 for the first time. I have built several small blocks over the years but this is my first Big Block. Looking for opinions on which Camshaft to go with??

Car
Street/Strip 1971 Duster
727 Trans with Reverse pattern manual Valve Body
3200 RPM Stall Converter
Large diameter Fenderwell headers going into 4" exhaust
8 3/4 rear with 3:91 suregrip

Engine
.30 over 440 with stock steel crank
Flattop Pistons
915 Heads with mild porting and gasket matching
Should be just over 10.5 to 1 compression
Edelbrock Single plane Intake Intake and Proform 850 Carb

Soon as I get the motor rebuilt, I will be selling this car as I already bought another that was an old family race car that I want to get back on the road. I do not want to cheap out just because I will be selling it. I take pride in all the cars I build but I don't want to have to get into a lot of extra costs that I can't recover either.

I know exactly what Cam I would use if this was a small block but do not have enough knowledge of Big Blocks to pick the best choice. It needs to be a nice cruiser for local car shows but also need to perform well at the Track.

Which CAM would you go with for this build?

Attached is the Motor before I pulled it to rebuild.

Call Hughes, tell them the parts you have, what your intent is and tgey will suggest one that meets your needs.
They can also put it through their desktop dyno and give you some approximate HP/TQ

Just a friendly tip you might want to post this in the Big Block forum, this is the Small Block forum...

If you don't have adjustable rockers, get them and run the 528 MP solid cam.

which flat top pistons
6 pack compression height pistons with 915 heads give much more compression
others have no quench and you have shot yourself in the foot
MP cams can work but are essentially obsolete
EDM lifters?
what lift will your springs handel
guides cut for viton seals
post up your compression calculations and cranking compression if you have it
makes a big difference in cam selection
stock valve sizes in those heads? any porting?
BTW with those headers you do not need near as much exhaust split as cams designed for stock manifolds
there are dino tests on the web from one of our members which you should read
