I can get my hands on a new unused carter 9755s afb (fed mogul built in the90s) and was wondering if it would suit my combo.
Street rod 67 barracuda
Specs
360 with 340 pistons- 175psi cranking comp
Edelbrock victor 340
Sig erson 3H cam
Msd
Tti headers dual 3 inch exhaust
2800 stall
904
3.9 to 1 gears

After something that would run well without too much work

We have an 800cfm Eddy 1812 on our 360. Stock magnum with a mild cam.
Many said it would be too big but it's not. runs perfect .
Didn't even adjust the air door...

The exact cam specs listed here would be really good to know.

Generally speaking, there very good. I have one working on my wife’s.030-360 at nearly 11-1 comp ratio and a Comp Cams Hyd. roller @ 224@.050 intake duration/904/3.55’s on a 26 hour inch tire.

When I had it on my more aggressively camed 360, a solid w/248*’s@.050, the secondaries needed to be enriched.

There is a thread on “Speedtalk” on the secondary short comings. Your build would have to be aggressive or the engine on the large side for it to show up.

Hey Danmax like the intake choice! Have you ran it on the street before? I plan to use one myself just wonder how it does for street driving.

Yes rumblefish I have seen where it starts kind of high rpms. However, a membet over in c bodiesonly I think used one on his 340 powered 75 Cordoba and said it ran better than the rpm for his application! His even had a/c. So just looking for real experiences rather than what is on paper or print.

Cam is 240 @50 hydraulic 472 lift
So not overly big

Are the heads yellow? How bout some details there?

It's sounding like it might be a good choice, but leaving out crucial information doesn't help. From here I say run it.

the heads are red cos red goes faster

Ported Js with 2.02/1.60 valves

Engine was built late 90s and sat on stand since then so some specs long forgotten

In that case, since they're red, I think the 750 will work.

One more thing did you use intake out of the box? Or did you do any port work to it?

It was match ported - On the street it behaves much better than expected from reading the spec sheet

Plenty of useable torque from low revs.

I would def recommend using it with the right combination

That could likely suck down a Holley 950 HP, but that 750 will work in the now.

Sorry, not following you here.

So, my REAL WORLD experiance of OWNING a Carter 750 for more than 20 years isn't valid?

Ohhhhh dude, please piss off.

Was not bashing you! Just wanted to hear how this intake has behaved for those who used that's all!

Is pissoff a thing in the US now - always thought it was just British/Australian saying..

Well that would be cheaper - I already have a 950 sitting on my shelf...

Damned if I wouldn't try it. Worst that can happen is you won't be able to tune it but I bet you can.

It is a prosystems one I had built for a 501 bb back when our dollar was much better . never thought abouttrying it on this - i may just throw it on and see what happens

I think,it will do fine. I run an old thermoquad 850 on my 360 so far it's been doing pretty good! A little rich but now that I put in the 292 mopar cam it may be just right! This cam is in the 240° ish + size. Haven't fired her yet but soon it will be once again alive!

I think the 950 will be ok as they are tested at different parameters than the older carbs and only flow around 830 cfm. The Carter Comp 750 is a great carb. If u don’t want to buy it I would. Kim

To close off on this - got the 750 carter and it was almost spot on out of the box. Runs really really well...
