TQ replacement

My attempt here is to show that the thin Edelbrock plate covers the entry in it’s entirety making a good seal. So any squarebore carb you decide on will fit fine.

Linkages will almost always need adjusting and maybe modified to fit.
The Edelbrock adapter posted above works excellent by the way but you still may have to tweak the OE rods. Keyword, “MAY!”
That’s what happens when non stock parts are used and not specifically designed for what you have. I myself use Lokar cables. There easy to do. Work great.

Exactly! Good illustration.

That's true. You don't need an adapter, but you are going to have to have the plate I described or it will not seal around the secondary bulges in the intake manifold.
Jegs said I needed this kit "Demon Universal Carb Installation Kit 160049. Hopefully it contains what I need.

I guess it depends on how the carburetor base is made. I forget as mine has been on a while. I know "I" would not want "just a gasket" sealing the secondary side. It will seal I am sure for a while, but with no metal to back it up.....I don't know for how long. It would suck to be on the road when it failed.

You can find someone who is good with the Rochester Quadrajet and use that. It's a bolt on. I know where a good used one is. Probably real cheap. But I don't think they are making those new either.

Not in about 30 years. The old Rochester Products carburetor plant, about ten miles from here, is now called GM Component Holdings, and they make fuel injectors and rails, for now.
They celebrate their heritage with a big banner on the outside of the building with pictures of their glory days of Corvette mechanical fi and quadrajets.

Understood, I'll have to see what arrives. Now my only issue might be the kick down linkage. I'm going to transfer the carb rod from the TQ and install it on the Demon.

Man that's the easy stuff. lol

Whatch gonna do with our old junker TQ?
I have two 6139S, one was using was rebuilt by National Carb and has warranty on it. It's going back for repairs. The other has not been rebuilt but is in very good condition for rebuild.

I have the 1901 street demon and love it. Before you install, take the top off and check the float levels. Mine were off quite a bit. It should run good ootb but if you have a wide band afr gauge, you can really dial it in. Report your results please.

Update:
Installed the 625cfm Street Demon and what a difference in performance!
Electric choke is real nice, start ups are quick and runs great. Better mileage too.

To keep the butterflies from hitting the dual-plane stock manifold, had to add the TQ thick gasket first to elevate the carb, then use the 3 piece Demon gasket. All is good now.
