Stop in for a cup of coffee

We can't get AT&T land line, just wireless. In fact - that's what I'm using for the OOma VoIP, through a 4G wireless connection.
But for the rotary phones to call out, I had to get Dialgizmo pulse to tone converter.

Part of the problem here goes back to the breakup of Ma Bell.
But the current situation is that Verizon already had partially completed FIOS in Phila when they decided their was no future in it. The City held them to finishing what they started (sortof). Anyway, they need to try to get as much money out of it as possible so they are cajoling, intimidating and saying whatever is neccessary to get people off the copper lines. The other thing this does is eliminate employees with overhead - especially experienced people and union positions. The new folks can be hired as contractors - I'm sure many are.

Verizon nears “the end” of FiOS builds

As far as reliability during a natural disaster or other time of emergency, that doesn't concern the quarterly stock holder report...
IMO, very astute observation.
