ThermoQuad info and kit question

I have printed out all the information/books that Mattax suggested, plus have a new copy of the SA/Carter, Edelbrock book, so I now have plenty of info and guidance as to how to rebuild and adjust the ThermoQuads. And I appreciate the advice Rustycowll69 gave in regards to soaking parts.

But I hope for some response to these two questions:

1) Which carb is likely to work best on a hot street 340? 800 small primary, or the 850 large primary??

Anyone tried both on a 340??
I intended to build one of the 850 models, as my motor did not like the AVS2 650 (at the top end), really responds to my modified #1407 750 (primary bore 1.69")
and seems to really like a lot of carb when I get into the throttle. In looking up the specs on these, I find the 6319S model ('73 340 Auto) has bigger jets and smaller rod #'s than the 440 carbs, even though it has the smaller 1-3/8" primaries, so it is set up to supply more fuel than the 440 models.

2) Also, any comments on using an adapter on a LD340 intake??

I'll order a kit soon. I still have not stripped the #6518S (Chrysler Industrial 440) so do not know how it's set up. By condition, I'd like to build this one if all goes well.
