What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Today's work;

It snowed today, so I had to go out and shovel the block. Then I was able to relax.

After cleaning a LOT of nasty off it today, I got a couple of sharpies to mark all the numbers so I could finally see what I have, and because well, just because. I still need to get some of the threaded plugs out, but that ain't happening without a torch, then I can remove the two tiny ones at the front of the engine. I got a little 1/4" steel rod so I can pop them out from the back. The outer walls of the cylinders were VERY clean, and just reaching my fingers in the freeze plug holes, you can barely feel any texture. There were some deposits that I did manage to wash out, but not a lot.

Now that I got MOST of the crud removed (there is still a ton of dirt on the back of the block, the previous owner had it in a W250 that he went wheeling in all the time), I can finish grinding off flash and removing stress risers, breaking edges. I can't find my wire wheel brushes, I'll look more tomorrow.

Come the new year it'll be ready for the machine shop for tanking (I want this thing CLEAN for a nice new coat of paint), new cam bearings, boring (hoping I can avoid that), honing, getting the decks level, perpendicular and at the proper height. I am tempted to do the oiling mods too. Neighbor came by and distracted me from working on my car by talking about cars.

I've decided to do the block in white instead of the original black (sorry, @yellow rose but them's the breaks) to make it much easier to spot any leaks.
