building a 68 cuda how tall of a tire will fit the FRONT wheel well opening on a 4 inch wide wheel stock style front suspension 2 inch back space thanks pics would help hoping to use a 27.5 mt front runner

I run a 3.5 wheel and tall. Not sure exactly what size at the moment but Fixed my cut fenders and no issues.

15x4” with a 2” backspace?

Anything wider than a 195 will hit the fender lip, not enough backspace.

Barracuda’s have pretty small wheel openings, usually guys have to modify the lower front corner of the fenders to fit anything taller than 26” unless the tires are tucked well into the wheel wells. Which will take more backspace than you’ve got.

I have 205 75 15`s on mine , no issues w/ a 5' prostar front wheel. Wish I`d gone 215 .
You can always pull the front of the fender out by making the front fender brace an 1'' or so longer , and not hurt a thing-------

thanks FABO just starting the body work now saw where another member had opened up the front by 1 inch to to fit 26 tall

But what is your backspace? It makes a BIG difference. If the wheel sits further out to the fender, you can't turn without hitting the lower corner. With a 2" backspace I can't imaging clearing anything taller than 26".

That's a pretty common operation. It usually happens with wider front tires, because of how far out they have to sit. But with a 2" backspace your skinny tires will sit very close to the fenders, so, you will likely have the same issue.

To be honest , its been so long ago, I don't remember !

I have 215/70/15’s on the 15x7 cop wheels and they don’t fit my 67 fastback. I’ll have to find something else that fits. There hitting the front of the fender.

27's fit as long as you don't need to turn:lol: these are Moroso 7.10x15 on 3.5" wheels. I'll be going with something a little shorter, proboly 215/60's

Pretty common. Back space is poor. The 3.5 I run basically have none.

The backspace on 15x7" cop wheels is not poor. At 4.25", it's almost the max you can run before 15" wheels hit the brakes. Most you can typically get away with is 4.5".

The problem is the wheel opening was not designed to be used with a 27" tall tire. Or one as wide as a 215 for that matter.

26 inch tall max or you will moving the fenders around or cutting...I have tried these 165 80 15s on the front of a bunch of A bodies and they are about the max you can run on a 3.5 inch wheel with about 1 5/8 inch backspace.

I’m looking at copper cobras 215/65/15 right now, which is a smidge over 26” but about a 1/2” shorter than the 215/70/15 I have now that are hitting.
