Magnum reseal questions?..

We ended up using lunati dual springs, but Matt's cam is .560 lift. Took a bit of time to find what we needed with the mag's short installed height. The springs we bought were for a Pontiac.

that's a cool find

If I could get paid for all the time I spend looking for good deals, I would never have to work again.
I used a Pontiac U-joint when I had a small yoke drive shaft and a large yoke on the 3rd member. I used to do that all the time. I still have one of the u-joints, but I forgot the part # LOL age....

I forget too, but when I worked in a Car Quest store in the 80s their part# was either 427 or 527. I can't remember which.

Well, It was driving me crazy that I couldn't remember the # so I went out and looked in an old catalog.
Old CarQuest # 527, it crosses to Moog #347

PAC is there usual source.
I bought there spring kit (springs/retainers/keepers) for my magnum heads. I wish I could find the source for their spring supplier. Their springs are not larger in diameter than stock like the Comps that everyone uses. Retainers fit nice.

you know at first I was kind of kicking myself in the butt a little bit because I could have got that Part cheaper and no question I could have put this package together on hell of a lot cheaper. But I did finally open it today over a week later and was pleasantly surprised to see how complete it is with all the bolts and gaskets I'm pretty much everything I need to make it nice. Of course I have my own our TV and I can reuse the bolts and stuff like that but it was again very pleasant to open the package and see how complete everything is and ready to go nice and clean.. no longer kicking myself and we do need to support these people who are doing stuff for our Mopar's.. I mean let's not hand them our paychecks but if they are in or make a couple dollars that's what keeps them open.. had I known I could got it's cheaper I would have probably done it but in the end I'm happy...
Well normally stuff like yes I do pictures and step by step of what I ran into and what things I did but I think this has been done too many times on the internet so I'll just let the thread go from here and thank the people that tried to help.. I appreciate it..

Well I'm getting into it here and how wrong I was! Yes Hughes has some quoted threads from somewhere where are you guys taking the plenum off but really is not what I would call a complete step by step by a long shot.. I thought I could pop on there and just get some pointers but I'm really kind of fumbling my way through it.. no I regret not starting and doing a step by step for people who really want to put this on and really need to know every last screw and nut that needs to be taken off and that doesn't..

And welders...
IMG_20191116_134302.jpg

Trying to weld a nut onto the broken stud.. switch of course when I put a wrench on just broke it off flush with the head LOL...
Didn't even waste time on the other front Bolt.. I just whacked it with a hammer and broke it off flush to LOL..
Call my best friend and told him to bring my reverse drill bits back..
on one hand like everybody else was saying I didn't have to remove my distributor cap or wires but other things that I did have to remove nobody mentioned... this is going to take a few days at least getting all this stuff cleaned up tomorrow is going to take a whole day. And all the other replacement parts that I want to replace while it's off. These feel injectors could use some new O-rings on them at the very least and everything's going to need to be completely sanitized it is a tremendous mess...
I guess if I had to pick the two bolts that broke off in the heads it would be the two front ones...

What the heck do you have the torch on?

Also this is now all the obvious that that was the problem that I was having the intake manifold was just completely full of motor oil...

Joking
It will never run again
I know you wouldn't find it funny, but I do. lol
I didn't know what the hell you were talking about.. I mean I Googled it and everything and I'm like what the hell...
now that I know what you're talkin about I'm going to start a thread telling everybody I'm leaving The Forum till the end of the year and then I'm going to come back after a couple days and get mad because I can't make any comments because I told everybody I was leaving for 6 weeks LOL

Got them out! 3 more hours of my life down the tube... With the angle and design of the Magnum and thank goodness they were the two front ones I should be able to get a longer bolt and put a nut on from underneath in case I got into too much of the threads...
Did I say--:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:....

One thing I'm surprised nobody mentioned, I strongly suggest you check the rod bearings. On the 100 plus thousand mile ones I've taken apart, the upper shells are always showing copper in the middle. Good running, clean ones also.

Make sure you have the heads checked, as they are probably cracked.

You guys do realize that I'm not taking the motor out but just replacing the intake manifold with new gaskets and that intake plenum fix kit from Hughes?.. having the heads checked? Taking off the main bearings!?..
I'm thinking a new rotor cap plugs and wires while I'm back there that's a new valve cover gaskets... MAX..LOL..

Come on man, if your gonna do it , you have to do it right. lol if not, it goes against everything you stand for. :D

I know, I want to take it out but already it's became quite a bit of work. And it's obvious this is going to solve the problems that I've been having with it.. I've had the truck for over a year now and just been adding oil.. well besides actual oil changes.. besides that snowmobile season is creeping up on me real fast...
Also my wife has approved grandson of seed truck so I may doing that here in the months to come as well... Let's not forget about the SM had sitting on my shelf for the Duster... Oh and that little thing called work..lol...

Just thinking out loud. Thought the engine was coming out. Carry on.

There they go again Jpar, spending your millions on penny fixes.
