For me, lift is an issue. I never care what the flow curve looks like (well...I do but I don't quit with lift just because the head backs up some...because the intake manifold takes some of that away, and I don't think a valve lifted past .250 or so will ever see a depression near 28 inches) I try and get all the lift the valve gear will take reliably and get lobes to work with that.
The rest of it I'm fully on board with.
