Update on '65 Valiant drivetrain swap

Here's an update on my '65 Valiant 100 build. It had a tired slant & 3 on the tree. Though I do like that combo, I had a '71 LA 318 with a Magnum head/intake swap, and a 4 speed taking up space in the shop.
I still need to fix an exhaust leak at the collector, but it's ready to be driven.
Engine was sort of a mystery that came.put of a parts car but so far seems good, with 65 psi oil pressure at start up.

'71 318 with Magnum heads, Edelbrock Air Gap for a magnum, AMC oil through lifters/pushrods, Quick Fuel 650 DP, Crane Fireball II ignition, cam sounds like the equivalent to a 340 4 speed cam, and a ball & trunion 4 speed with a Hurst Super Shifter I rebuilt.
Exhaust is a set of Spitfire shorty headers, X pipe, Flowmaster 40s and 340 tips.

It's a plain Jane, radio delete, bench seat, no trim, no frills, and so cool!

 
Great work and thank you for the update. Looks good, like a sleeper, and sounds great, like a tire burning A Body.

Some day will attempt that project myself. Had a four speed in high school and look forward to having another some day!

Mike that's awesome! That's going to be a little tire burner, sounds great. I don't know where you find these things and the time it takes to do what you do with them. Might want to change out that single reservoir master before its to late. Ask me how I know that.
 
That's awesome! I wouldn’t do another thing to it other than put some good brakes on it. You got the extra go covered.....now it just need some extra stop!

Thanks man! Ah, an hour here, an hour there.

Funny enough, the car was imported from Washington a couple years ago, and during inspection, needed a new master. So the previous owner replaced it with another single master! Oh well, I'll be doing some more upgrades before spring, but nice to have it moving under it's own power again.

Yes, it's a factory short box '69 Fargo W100 Power Wagon. I put a 360 in place of the seized 318, in front of the 4 speed. I have since sold it, I do have a few more though.

I have an 8 3/4 to go in it, probably in the spring. I've been driving it these past few days, pulls hard! But needs an alignment, the torsion bars are also cranked all the way up and still soft up front, so may upgrade to V8 bars.
 
Nice little car. If you can swing it, I would recommend the brake master cylinder from Dr Diff. I just put one in my car today and I’m impressed with it. If you have to change the torsion bars, get the 1.03’s from PST. I have them and they are great. Firms up the ride but not to the point of being harsh.

I may look into V8 bars when I have some more money to spend, for now I just cranked up the bars a little, redid the camber, and set the toe.

Yes, I should upgrade to a dual master, but for now it's working, plus I can gear down, it's not just all on the brakes to slow down.
