I'm here
I've heard they pretty good. But why not call PTC and get a custom 9.5 for less money. Sorry, didn't read the whole thing through. That 2800 to 3000 is a crap shoot. Every off the shelf converter I bought never stalled as high as it was rated. They could tell you what it will stall in your car. And im sure they will build you what ever you want. At least you would know it will stall were you want it.

I've got an FTI 4000 hard hit 9.5" (SRC80828) ordered from Summit, built a couple days later and shipped direct from FTI.....paint barely cured!.......It's sitting in the staging lane (along with other engine goodies) Plan over the winter is to pull the 727, install the converter with new pump bushing and seal (and make a few small changes on the engine) I've read on many other sites, they have a good reputation and are heavily into racing. The converter looks like a converter so that's a good start! The welding is top notch.....we shall see. By the way, I have been running a Turbo Action 10" tight, advertised to flash 3500.....and it does. But I want more so......

I run one. 9.5" 3400-3600 stall. Does pretty good in my street dart sport 360. Had a cheap 10" Dacco I recall. No comparison FTI is much better! When I got mine took a high risk and bought it slightly used from a guy who parted out his swinger after it suffered a total loss accident. Been fine now for 5 years.

Awesome reviews, guys! How were the street manners, and with what gears?

Damn,my custom converter from Ultimate didn't cost that much..And we know Lenny is one of the "BEST" out there!!

Last ran my car and FTI converter with 3.55s and @ 1st seemed a little loose since other converter was tight. But after a while it was lots of fun! Car would get out of the hole much quicker! Now went to 3.91's and new cam (292 mopar cam) so will see how she responds to the changes.

I'll see if Ultimate has something on the shelf around the same price range, or less. Again, I see no benefit in a custom converter for my car. I posted the reasons why in my first post

I talked to Lenny back when I was looking for a converter for my setup, 2017, he recommended a 9.5" 3800 with about a 4200 flash, but it was $950+ Just didn't have the coin to pull the trigger att. If I did it would have been dead nuts I'm sure as that's about where I'm at now with what my plans are, only more money otd, and more work. Oh well.

Street manners are a deal to me, don't like a "spongy" converter on the street. I'd like to flash about 3k, but have street manners like a stock converter. I'm hoping to use 3.23 gears as well, so that has to be considered.

The TA 10" tight in my van is awesome on the street, no sponge or sign of loose, great around town, but hammer it and it launches strong.

Can you still get a Turbo Action converter, I couldn't find them on Jegs or Summit.
I'm looking for another, as Turbo Action is my converter of choice

Anyone have a review from personal experience or a friend that runs one?
FTI SRC30826 SR Series 9.5" 2800-3000 RPM Street Racer Converter 904 Chrysler | eBay

P.S. - I will not order a custom converter built for my car because my car changes constantly and then the custom built converter for my car suddenly isn't built for my car... LOL.

Thanks in advance! :)

you've opened your can of worms in other places now it's time to grow some and be a real man and put three pedals in your car.. just sayin...

Just remember...3000 isn't very much. A decent converter (even off the shelf) should be 3800 and 4000 wouldn't hurt...if you can keep the slippage down.

I've seen more ET loss from a tight converter than most anything else.
I thought you would be on my bandwagon and said when he runs a clutch he can have any stall he wants.. just adjust the clutch tamer...

well, on street tires and stock suspension, slapper bars, hooking up can become a challenge. I would guess my stock converter to be 2000 rpms. A 1000 rpm jump would be big to my car.

Lets get at least 3 pages in and I get some good feedback on FTI before you start poopin' on my parade. Some people have pet peeves. You are my pet pigeon.

I wonder if going to a 4200 stall Dynamic converter would give me dramatic change that I could feel vs my current FTI with 3400-3600 stall?

What I would do is go ahead and have a custom converter built for the car as you see it will be in the end. It's always going to be a street car, right? How much difference will there really be when it's "done"? Just a thought.

With a diaphragm clutch and a clutch tamer you can get the perfect slip for the horsepower you're at at the moment and then redial the clutch Tamer when you do other adjustments to the horsepower like you plan to and still get the ultimate launch... just saying..
