I have had converters built for my cars from Dynamic, PTC and Ultimate. Be brutally honest with them. It’s the best upgrade u can do to ur car. Kim

What I would do is go ahead and have a custom converter built for the car as you see it will be in the end. It's always going to be a street car, right? How much difference will there really be when it's "done"? Just a thought.
I don't know. 360? But by mid summer 440 ??? I mean, I really don't know and that's why I think a custom converter would not be ideal in my case

With a diaphragm clutch and a clutch tamer you can get the perfect slip for the horsepower you're at at the moment and then redial the clutch Tamer when you do other adjustments to the horsepower like you plan to and still get the ultimate launch... just saying..
Ok, means you insist. Very very very very doubtful I install a 4 speed (like slim to almost no chance!), and if I did I wouldn't need a clutch tamer.
  • You have any experience with the brand FTI ?

So what do I do with this custom converter when I pull my 360 out and put a 440 in it? or 383? or 318 magnum? I'll be a monkeys uncle if I buy, then resend and pay again, then resend and pay again for every cam, engine, and combo I put in my car. lol...

You won't be using a 904 converter on a 440.
Put it in your other Duster.

FTI, PTC, Dynamic, Turbo Action, Edge and Ultimate are all good choices for mopar. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

I had a brand-new TCI with that pink 318 and it seemed to work fine...
$700 for a universal converter? I paid 800 for my 4 Speed... sure I had the puzzle together a few more parts but...
Are you against a 4-speed? I have a few bits and pieces I could help out with... I can also loan you a couple parts that would be major...

You mean like everybody else does?

This is why a 4-speed would work the best for him instead of buying 15 $700 converters for every different combination he comes up with he can have one 4-Speed can do them all...
It's not like he's some dirt old man who can't push in the clutch or is he scared LOL...

Ran TCI, several of them in fact. 10" street fighters for 400 bucks, etc..

1 converter....
That's going to work in every scenario on a small block with Magnum heads 596 heads Speedmaster heads whatever different cam you have and possibly a 440 with Speedmaster heads and whatever can that has and so on and so on.. I just think you're asking a lot of one converter..

been there done that man. I've put the same converter that backed a small block right behind a big block. I was wondering about the quality and street ability of FTI converters from folks that have them or experienced them... LOL.

you mean everyone else that sends their converter back and forth for every mod? I don't know, but i'm not

Certainly you wouldn't have to for every single mod. That's just dumb. What I would do in your shoes is call a converter company and tell them what you have in mind. See WHERE they would draw the line at either choosing another converter or changing what you have. I bet you'll be surprised.

for example, I'd like to go another round with my low dollar 318, but I may pull it and slam a aluminum head 440 in it.

I remember the first cam I put in my first duster a long long time ago.. I had to have both feet on the brakes and a stop light... I didn't know what a stall converter was...

And I remember the GER stall I put behind a built 340. Slipped so bad climbing a hill I stopped to check my tranny fluid... LOL :D
