Are you getting ideas ????Better yet a big block in a Durango.

Awesome! thanks for the reviewTo answer your question directly. Yes FTI converter are streetable. Mine has a higher stall rating than the one you are looking @. So in that case it should be even more street friendly than mine. And mine does just fine!
you mean everyone else that sends their converter back and forth for every mod? I don't know, but i'm not
Yeah $700 torque converters start to add up...That's why the bolt together converter is the most popular right now with the heads up guys. They can split them themselves and swap out parts to get what they want.
They cost a mint to get started, but at that level they pay for themselves quickly.
yeah, I'll not be at that level of importance anytime soon... LOL. Only mint I have is a Andes Chocolate MintThat's why the bolt together converter is the most popular right now with the heads up guys. They can split them themselves and swap out parts to get what they want.

If I wanted to run a 904 behind a big block, I couldn't care less.
^^^cough cough>>>>. It's why I told Jpeg I couldn't care less what it cost... LOL

I have to be careful because i'm working with stock suspension and traction is key. Spin'n ain't winn'n LOLPersonally I would up the stall to 3200 to 3400. Coverters now days can do that easily and act like a stock converter at cruise. And it makes the converter much more universal. That converter will work from stock engine to moderately modified.

this was really kind of my point. We're (as in me, my son, son-in-law) are still not sure what may happen, if anything... LOL. A nice street converter behind my 360 may become a drag converter behind a 440. Maybe we start with nothing but 5k, and buy a car and build it to go 10 seconds with that 5k. (this would drop the van idea... LOL)Just remember...the coverter will change stall speeds when a change occurs in the torque curve. Not just the total amount of torque, but also the shape of the curve.
What I'm getting at is let's say you get the converter right for a nice, streetable 360 and it has an effective stall speed of 3k just for discussions sake.
Now, you build a nice 440 and use the same coverter. Not only did you more than likely increase torque, you will be making more torque at a lower RPM than with the 360. That right there will INCREASE the effective stall speed of the converter.
The corallary is the same. A converter that has an effective stall of say 3k on a 440 will tighten up if you put it behind a 360.
How much the stall changes is based on torque/torque curve, gear ratio, car weight and...
I'm sure you know all this but it's worth typing it out.
So what do I do with this custom converter when I pull my 360 out and put a 440 in it? or 383? or 318 magnum? I'll be a monkeys uncle if I buy, then resend and pay again, then resend and pay again for every cam, engine, and combo I put in my car. lol...
i'm look'n at the TA 10" as well. thanks for the feedbackMy Turbo Action tight 10" S-800 flashes to 3200 at the line 340/904 236@.050 cam, 1.65 60' When I ran a Magnum 360 it flashed to 3400. Car drives normal on the street. When I spoke with TA Paul told me to stick with a tight converter on a street driven car. I drive 50 miles to run at the track and have no cooling issues in FL.
FTI is based in Central FL and a lot of folks run their converters here. They are always at the track.
As the biggest cheapa$$ on here you know Dany and I are lurking on the sidelines to find her a converter too...i'm look'n at the TA 10" as well. thanks for the feedback
One area that I'm not afraid to spend a little change $$ on is the converter. You keep work'n with that magnum, you have a lot to gain yet. Your not close to your potential if I remember correctly! As the biggest cheapa$$ on here you know Dany and I are lurking on the sidelines to find her a converter too...
I get the logic of get what you pay for on converters. Same with cam selection. One area that I'm not afraid to spend a little change $$ on is the converter. You keep work'n with that magnum, you have a lot to gain yet. Your not close to your potential if I remember correctly!
I like your project!
what's wrong with van's and rivers??? lolI get the logic of get what you pay for on converters. Same with cam selection.
And it's not like we are living in a van down by the river, but this whole trans deal (while not unexpected) is eating our drag radial money!!!
And it's out of service until this new trans and converter go in as the leak out the front of the old trans is too big to run it..
Thats what we wanted too, same size even!!!what's wrong with van's and rivers??? lol
drag radial money is untouchable! lol. I love my MT ET Streets. I bought 235/60r15's. 26" tires.
with those tires and traction bars, I cut consistant mid 1.8's 60 foot times with an open rear end. With a better than stock converter and better than 2.94 gears, obviously I'd have seen how much more they would take and still bite.Thats what we wanted too, same size even!!!
The other day we discussed joining you on the "slapper bar" bench with the mother rapers and father stabbers..(poor Alice's restaurant reference)
