Stop in for a drink.

Almost evening guys. I think I might have a Sunday evening sip in a bit. I bought a couple 3 liter oak barrels. I have one soaking with hot water overnight to seal it and tomorrow I am going to do a little experiment. I bought 4 750's of Cedar Ridge Bourbon. The ratings said they were a little weak (just a 3 year and I tend to agree) so I will macerate those 4 bottles in my barrel for some time. With a 3 liter barrel, almost 3 months equals 1 year compared to a 55 gallon barrel, 6 months = 2 years and so on. Of course the sampling along the way is the fun part.

Hey Mike, here is the recipe to make bacon infused bourbon. Other fat soluble flavors can be infused too using this technique (like peanut butter, other nut butters). I saw one where a spoon full of peanut butter was added to the bacon fat before mixing.
