Speedmaster Small block porting tips and results Part 1

I have no doubt at all that someone could ask PBR for a set of these heads
ported adequately enough to support 550hp on a bracket race type 408(or..... since he’s not a big dyno guy...... heads good enough to run 10’s)....... and he could easily do that job and make that kind of power(ET) without the heads ever seeing the flow bench.
“Flowing” the heads doesn’t actually make them better.
It’s just a measuring device.
Someone has to do the work in order for the heads to move more air.

Many guys that really know what it takes to make big power say they hardly use the flow bench anymore.
To them, the shape and size are more important than the flow number.

So no, you don’t need a flow bench to port your 2 sets of heads.
But..... you should know that since you did some porting...... and didn’t flow them.
