Stop in for a cup of coffee

I grew up seeing death, both of people and animals on and around the farm, in most cases I’m fairly neutral towards it and get over it quickly but there’s a few occasions where death still gets me upset. Anything young kid related for sure. And then what’s coming with my grandma, who’s dementia has taken her to near her death bed in the last month. My grandma and grandpa raised me, voluntarily, not because they were forced too. So I’m really close with them. Those are going to be very rough days and honestly, dreading those.
But anything pet or animal wise, I’m like ok, sucks but gotta move on. So it’s been really hard for me to understand what my wife has been going thru with the mourning of her pup
You answered your own question. You are only disturbed by losing lives close to you but can’t understand that your wife was as close to her pet as you are to your loved ones.

Your compassion only applies to yourself and can’t fathom what others feel.
