Just mark both int/exh 8,7,6 etc as well as each chamber.
Int and exh same number as chamber they belong to. Easier and the industry standard. Heads r/l
keeps everything in order and accounted for if any issues arise later...tracks it if its shelved, etc.
I guess I've always done one head A,B,C, etc and on head 1,2,3 etc. I mark one end of the head 1 and the other end 8. Then as I inspect I refer to one head as the "A" head and the other as the "1" head. Good thing I work by myself... lol
