similarly equipped, the 7/8/9 Barracudas are the heaviest of the 108s, and rival E-bodies. But the good news is the rears are the heavy part, and it don't take a lot of effort to get a 50/50 car.
By contrast, my 70 Swinger 340 was an easy 300 pounds lighter than my identically equipped 68 Barracuda. Well not quite true; the dual full length 3" pipes with Dynomax 3-pass muffs are 72 pounds, versus IDK about the Swinger junk.
My Swinger was 3330 trackside, me in it at 130 (1971), so car was 3200
My Barracuda was 3667, me in it.
with aluminum heads, intake, and 4-speed case/extension, and with the 23pound GVod box. Otherwise, they were similarly equipped. I took 200 pounds off the Barracuda and she scaled 3467 trackside, me in it, at 205,(2004) so car was 3262....... after the 200 was taken out, plus the engine and trans lightened up.
That big rear window, and support works is more than just a pretty face. And the fold-down rear seat is also a tank at 64 pounds. But I knew that going in, and so I installed a 360. That's 20 cubes for 200 pounds, so fair trade to have the big wheel wells, and more weight over the rear.
