Interesting take on things from uncle tony

Yup, they are a bolt on, I had two built with 3.55 gears, lightweight less power to turn etc cheap as **** too.
The ring & pinion are a bolt-on,....not a Dak rear axle just for Newbs,...the later FMJ version & Daks had larger bearings. The fortuitous advent of the Daks using a 7.25 R&P in the frt. diff on 4x4's made a great selection still available............
My '87 1st-yr. dak is a 3.9L 2bbl carb 2WD 8ft.bed unit,.....came with a 7.25 rear & 2.76 open gearset.
I managed just barely over 23mpg combined driving one tankful,......but that was "extreme mileage" driving, mostly I got ~18-20mpg.
