I did that with an Olds 98 once when I was swapping engines. Had an A frame over the car, the new engine sitting next to it, hood past that. Cops came and told me I had to clean it up, and gave me two weeks. Neighbor was showing a house for sale three days later. She could have just asked me to clean it up, and it would have looked like any other parked car. Nope, it looked the same as when the cops were there. She wouldn't look at me until after I was done, then waved at me smiling. The cops didn't care, but they had to do something since they were called. Since then, every place I've lived I've had neighbors that didn't mind us working on cars outside. As long as progress is being made, it doesn't bother me.
