Less track more street fuel system advice needed
Ok, picked up a car that is set up for the strip more so than the street and had some drivability issues related to the fuel system. Parts outlined below and issue was fluctuations in FP once car and pump got hot.
current system is 100% electric and here is my question:
Do I want to split fuel coming into engine compartment: Inbound line w a cell side QFT 300 high pressure Pump to a “T” - 1st side to a dual inlet regulator and 2nd side to a mechanical 110gph pump then out to 2nd inlet port in regulator. Then out to fuel rail & carbs? Or can / do I run “through” the mechanical and use a standard regulator?
This way I can maintain the QFT system with a switch and utilize the mechanical pump for cruising etc?
are the mechanical pumps pass through so I don’t create issue when the QFT is running etc? Anyone run a similar set up? A guy at a show this past weekend was mentioning this set up but took off before I could get details?
suggestions on 2 inlet regulator also if these are out there? Otherwise I’d have to run the high pressure line into the mechanical then to regulator?
current set up:
RCI cell
BG filter & QFT 300 w/ -10 AN fittings and line
BG 2 port Regulator (gonna update this either way)
Electric FP gauge in dash
Proform 750 carb
I need minimum 25gph **
appreciate any suggestions and guidance!
