It is each and every person prerogative as to go to an event or not. Just because we have this "virus", doesn't imply that there should/would be lawsuits because an event wasn't called. In the past did you attend any event/or not because you were afraid of getting the flu? Same. If Spring Carlisle is still held and there hasn't been a cure announced, who's going? I am. It's the same as being vigilant about a terrorist attack, or being on high alert. If this is the way China can get to the entire world with this type of virus, they or any other country doesn't need a warhead to deliver.

Let's not talk politics here. I don't want to butcher the thread or move it to the N&P. Thanks

We'll se if it exceeds the 36,000 that die each year from the common flu. I bet not. And I hope i'm right.

People keep comparing it to the flu. It's not the flu. It's more contagious then the flu. Still much unknown about it.

Referring back to the cancellations, my biggest worry is how this could affect all the smaller tracks in the country- the ones that are already struggling to stay afloat. With so many closures recently, this could be the death knell for many more if this drags on for a considerable amount of time. And I'm not just talking drag strips, think of all the dirt and asphalt ovals and Kart tracks out there... this is not good on many levels.

Agreed just announced here in Ontario Canada that all our public schools will be closed for an additional two weeks to contain the spread. I have never seen this kind of response to a virus before.
When I saw all those cranes trying to build a hospital in 6 days in China, I knew something was not the norm. Italy has suspended people's mortgage payments for 1 month to encourage people who are not well to stay home.

True, but we all know what I was implying. If you are healthy, take care of your self and watch out for things as in your every day life, I don't feel it will be any worse than another flu or cold. If I should happen to contact it( feel certain to beat it), I'll let all know.

The impact of this virus is going to be astronomical, between the loss of income for all of the support staff at all of these events and leagues being postponed or cancelled, the financial losses from the stock market turbulence, income lost by those who are affected or have family members fall ill and have to miss work for 2 weeks or more, and the obvious loss of lives. I expect it will take years before the true costs may be known, if ever.

Paranoia spreading through the planet at a record pace.
I wonder what the next crisis will be.
Certainly within 60 days this will be a distant memory.

Yep

Just got a call from a friend that was at a grocery store close to my house. He said the line ups snaked around the store and he spent more than an hour just to pick up a few things.

Atlanta has lost the final 4 for college BB for the public, NASCAR has closed the track to the public. All the colleges have closed for 2 weeks. I expect who knows what more tomorrow! It effects so many people and so deep, this is not very good at all! I expect the local schools to close and it really piles up’s quickly. Total economy killer.

My 94 year-old mother in law say's this is a bunch of B.S. fueled by the media
I think so to.

BINGO,
All this Postponement BS is driven by a desire to NOT assume any liability!

Likely it all is. But everyone that serves the events is screwed!
