I'm using the Edelbrock 7577 intake with LA timing cover and water pump on the 5.9 Magnum I'm building. Couldn't find a way to install the by-pass hose tried several things and searched the web with no solutions. Got a 3/4 brass bar stock 45 degree street elbow machined down the high corners used a stock style short nipple and LA by-pass hose worked out perfectly if anyone is interested I'll post a picture

Bypass is VERY important. Without it water doesn't circulate in the block till the thermostat opens and it takes longer for the thermostat to open.

That being said I see some newer engines have an internal bypass.

It's a piss poor design for sure. I played around with several different fittings and about 4 different hoses. Sorry, but I wasn't smart enough to write down the hose part number.

I think I ended up putting the fitting that came with the intake on the water pump. Then I bought a "short" fitting from Summit for the intake. It's still not ideal but it works. I'll go back through my Summit orders and see if I can find the "short" fitting.

I took the LA bypass hose to the parts store when they weren't busy and had them find a hose that was molded in a similar shape but was close to 1" ID. I think the one I used was slightly under 1".it looks much thicker in the picture than in person!

This is the fitting I used in the intake. I'm pretty sure I used the one that came with the 7577 in my water pump. Hard to confirm with the hose all the way down.

Nice. I put a newer (bottom hose passenger side) water pump on a 1966 273. By-pass on pump 1" 1966 intake 1/2" NPT - Cannot find a nipple to neatly adapt the 1/2" to 3/4" that has a 1" outer diameter. I settled for a 1/2" threads into 1/2 to 3/4 adapter then a nipple off a newer MoPar intake which is 1" OD. Really long so I had to cut almost half of the by-pass off, attach to both pump and intake nipple, then screw into intake. Pain and not pretty. Any better suggestions gladly entertained (except changing 273 intake). Thanks Steve
