What’s the deal on Schumacher Creative Services

-
I used the trans dapt ones from summit on my 440 car with zero problems. Half price I'd imagine too.

Yours is the 67 and up. Mine is a 64. I think I may end up fabbing something. I'm just gonna have to figure out "where" the engine needs to be in the engine bay.

I ordered a torque strap from the website a couple weeks ago. Didn’t say out of stock but never received an email confirmation or anything. Going to check my credit card account to see it it was charged and if so then I’ll give them a call. I hope they can carry on. Wish them nothing but good luck.

Yeah, I plan to purchase a set of their swap mounts for a future project. I "guess" I need to get them from Mancini now while they show them in stock. I only hope they really have them.

Called Mancini Thursday. They have zero Schumacher and have heard all of the rumors posted here.

Well, if everything career-wise pans out for me over the next 5-10 years maybe I'll look into producing and selling some Mopar parts. I doubt I'd make much money but I'm a younger guy (29) who's passionate about the hobby and I don't want to be stuck driving damn belly-button Chevies and Fords if I want a classic when I'm 50. I know it's a tough deal getting into that kind of business but being a Mopar guy sucks when you need parts and I'm tired of the lack of suppliers as I'm sure everyone else is.

Maybe I'll get into using additive manufacturing (3D printing) or whatever other new tech stuff has come about in the last decade or so, it's pretty wild where things are going. Obviously that won't work well for body panels but mechanical parts I think are definitely doable. Just thinking out loud lol.

Michael started with just the windshield wiper thing, then expanded to cover firewall gaskets and such. He had a 67-69 dart convertible that he was restomodding, he just made stuff that he needed for his car, that nobody else was making.

I spoke to him last week after multiple calls with no response. He said his mounts were "not back from the laser cutter yet" and to give him 4 weeks. I'm not impressed with the customer service anymore. I only ordered them because I figured they weren't going to be around forever so I'd keep a set on the shelf. If they don't show in a month I'll just get a refund and forget it. The stuff has been on backorder for a very long time.

I called him yesterday to see if he had the torque straps in stock. It took many calls throughout the day before he finally answered the phone. He said there was a problem getting what he needed to make them and to check back around the middle of January.

I called Schumacher on March 6th to see if they had the Torque Strap in stock. The gentleman I spoke with said they did, and I ordered one. Got it in the mail one week later. Looking forward to the installation...

I tried calling and emailing with no response. I need a set of headers so I went to ebay. I found a new never used set for a good deal so I hit the buy now. Hopefully it turns around because they have some great products.

Did the deal on eBay have more of the headers ?

I saw the torque strap was back in stock, so I ordered one online on Tuesday. It came today. Very little else available, but the wiper pivot seals are in stock.
I wish them the best whatever direction they take.

I made a comment on another thread that maybe he was going out of business and another member hit the disagree button, but as always, didn't say why. Maybe he knows something? I was simply throwing ideas out in response to the conversation.

I hit the disagree button, but just for the heck of it. I don't think I've ever hit that button before?

I received this response a couple of weeks ago. Make of it what you will but it doesn't sound promising. This fairly vague automated reply to my question is what made me start posting here, too.

Didn't know about Mary, I know Mike was having health problems.
Good people. I met Mike 25 years ago and have been buying from him ever since.
I was just thinking that these vendors are getting up in years (Me too)and if they don't have someone to take over then they will be gone.Sad for the hobby and industry.

Have welder, will fabricate......This stuff is not that hard to make. Rob, did I send you the plans for the Streetmasters LA to B motor mounts? I got sketches somewhere. 2 nested U channel pieces with a through bolt - Looks like a hinge. Simple stuff with a chop saw and a drill press.

I read threads like this, and hear of other suppliers/businesses going out as the owners retire, and wonder where the young entrepreneurs are that could step into these successful businesses and start making money. The owners aren't getting anything when they just pack it up, but geez... turn the place over to someone else and maybe get something out of it. At least let your hard work continue on.

Well it happened at Indy Cylinder Heads. Good people took it over.
Problem is there aren't many interested out there. If I was 30 for sure.40 Give it serious though. 50's doubtful. Now in the 60's the motivation is gone..We are a dying breed.
